Standard C++ Foundation


Standard C++ Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports the C++ software developer community and promotes the use of modern Standard C++ on all compilers and platforms, was founded in 2012.

NEWS

In 1979, Bjarne Stroustrup began developing “C with Classes” which became C++.

In 1985, Bjarne Stroustrup published the first textbook for C++, “The C++ Programming Language.”

Microsoft hosted the “Going Native” conference to focus on C++11, or C++ 2011, on February 02, 2012.

In 2002, Herb Sutter became chairman of the ISO C++ standards committee.

In 2002, Herb Sutter joined Microsoft.

In 2012, Herb Sutter became chairman of the Standard C++ Foundation.

In 2012, Bjarne Stroustrup became treasurer of the Standard C++ Foundation.

After 22 years at Microsoft, Herb Sutter left to join Citadel Securities, in November 2024.
